*More sustainable and climate-friendly than conventional meat products.

As a pet food manufacturer with strong ties to our region, we have made it our goal to combine animal welfare and environmental protection. In addition to more sustainable practices in our production process, we go a step further:

We want to produce more sustainable and climate-friendly feed
and become a pioneer in more environmentally conscious practices!

We are convinced that quality and sustainability are closely linked and do not describe a stage of development, but rather a process. That's why we work every day to improve our products for your and our dogs.

Three good reasons for more vegetables in your feed:

1. Eating more vegetables conserves resources and saves CO₂

By increasing the proportion of regional vegetables such as peas, potatoes, or carrots, the amount of meat is reduced. This results in fewer greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO₂ or methane. Furthermore, important resources such as water are conserved, since less water is used to grow vegetables than to raise animals.

2. Secondary plant substances contribute to a healthier diet

Secondary plant compounds have beneficial properties for our four-legged friends. These are pigments, fragrances, and flavor compounds that occur naturally in plants. Beta-carotene, for example, is naturally found in carrots and can support cell growth and the immune system.

3. Vitamins can strengthen the immune system and ensure a healthy metabolism.

Peas, carrots, and other root vegetables are packed with healthy vitamins, minerals, and fiber that can support your furry friend's health. Peas, in particular, are rich in fiber and can promote healthy digestion. Potatoes also provide plenty of protein and carbohydrates, making them a high-quality energy source. Furthermore, they are easily digestible, gentle on the stomach, and can protect the stomach lining.

The more climate-friendly varieties with more vegetables are made from high-quality raw materials, almost exclusively from German producers. The high vegetable content can ensure fast, gentle digestion and strengthen the immune system with additional vitamins. Based on the natural needs of dogs, the four varieties – “Beef & Vegetables”, “Poultry & Vegetables”, “Lamb & Vegetables”, and “Turkey & Vegetables” – provide a healthy and balanced diet.

With fresh meat and a 30 percent vegetable content, these varieties provide essential vitamins and fiber that your four-legged friend needs for a long, healthy life. The grain-free recipes are based on a dog's natural diet and contain only functional ingredients from nature.

The menus are available in 400g and 800g.

Three good reasons for insects in food:

1. Hypoallergenic food for sensitive dogs

Food containing insects is particularly suitable for dogs with food sensitivities. Our Mono Insect variety, in particular, is easily digestible and hypoallergenic. With a protein source like insects, which your dog has likely never encountered before, an immune system reaction is rather unlikely. Therefore, insects can serve as a good alternative for dogs with intolerances to conventional proteins.

2. A more sustainable alternative to beef, chicken, etc.

Raising black soldier fly larvae is more environmentally friendly compared to conventional livestock farming: they consume less water and produce significantly less CO₂ and other greenhouse gases. That's why our insect-based varieties are perfect if you want to reduce your dog's ecological pawprint.

3. Species-appropriate rearing without traditional “slaughtering”

The larvae of the black soldier fly are not slaughtered but harvested. This is an important difference because, unlike mammals, insects have a different sense of pain. They are therefore dried gently and in an animal-friendly manner without causing any pain.

Insects are an exceptional source of protein and nutrients – and the superfood of the future! In particular, the larvae of the black soldier fly offer your dog plenty of minerals such as iron, zinc and calcium, and can thus boost your four-legged friend's metabolism.

Furthermore, they are easily digestible and particularly well-suited for dogs with food intolerances. Valuable fatty acids contribute to healthy skin and a shiny coat. Our varieties with 30 percent insects or our Mono Insect variant offer your furry friend a broad spectrum of essential amino acids and also have a minimal ecological footprint.

The more sustainable, species-appropriate farming of black soldier flies conserves resources and releases significantly fewer greenhouse gases. They provide a 100% natural protein source, unaltered by antibiotics or genetic modification. A natural superfood for a healthy and balanced diet.

Black soldier fly larvae

Why black soldier fly of all things?

Black soldier flies, also Hermetia Illucens , are real super flies. They originally come from the subtropical regions of America and cannot survive here in Germany due to our temperate climate. Their life cycle is about six weeks, making them more time-efficient to breed compared to beef or pigs.

MAC's menus feature black soldier fly larvae. These larvae grow rapidly: within just a few weeks, they gorge themselves, accumulating a significant amount of protein and fat. They are virtually incapable of consuming anything, as they have the ability to convert any organic waste into valuable protein, thus reusing food scraps. Furthermore, compared to conventional protein sources, they require considerably less food to raise a large quantity of larvae. Once the larvae are fully fed, they are harvested. Unlike mammals, black soldier flies are invertebrates with a different pain threshold. Therefore, the insects experience no pain during the harvesting process and are dried gently and humanely.

The larvae are the perfect alternative as animal food: they are full of important minerals, proteins and high-quality fatty acids. In addition to zinc and iron, they also provide calcium and vitamin B1.

why is this more climate-friendly?

Since raising black soldier flies doesn't require fertile farmland, important resources are conserved right from the start: the larvae can be bred in a very small area. Furthermore, their water consumption is up to 15,000 times lower compared to raising conventional livestock. But that's not all: the emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases is also up to one hundred times lower. In addition, byproducts can be used, for example, as fertilizer in agriculture.

The larvae are also unbeatable when it comes to the feed-meat ratio, as one kilogram of larvae can be bred from around 1.5 kilograms of feed. The black soldier fly larva is a true SUPER FOOD and a more climate-friendly, sustainable alternative to conventional protein sources.
